Question paper generator
Most of the work in setting a paper is not writing questions, it is making the sections add up, keeping the topics balanced and getting the layout right. This does those three, and leaves the judgement to you.
How a paper gets built
1.Set the shape of the paper first
Add the sections you want and give each one a target mark total and a number of questions. A Section A of thirty multiple choice items and a Section B of structured questions worth forty marks is three fields, not an afternoon.
2.Choose the topics, and rule out the ones you have not taught
Topics are included or excluded per section. If your class has not reached the geometry strand yet, exclude it and the paper is set without it.
3.Generate, then edit what you disagree with
You get the full paper on screen in about a minute. Replace a question you do not like, delete one, or edit the wording in place. Nothing is exported until you are happy with it.
4.Export the paper and the scheme together
Two PDFs, the question paper and its marking scheme, ready to print or to send to a colleague.
Question types it sets
- Multiple choice
- Four options with a single keyed answer, the format KPSEA uses throughout.
- Structured questions
- Sub-parts with their own marks, and answer space sized to the marks allocated.
- Comprehension passages
- A passage followed by the questions set on it, in English and Kiswahili.
- Cloze tests
- A gapped passage with numbered blanks, scored as separate items.
- Compositions and insha
- Ruled writing space sized for the mark allocation, not a fixed box.
- Mathematics
- Fractions, geometry diagrams and images rendered properly, with working space on the page.
The marking scheme is not a separate job
Every paper exports with a scheme that matches it question for question, so the teacher marking Stream B is working from the same answers as the one who set it.
Common questions
- Can I control how many marks each section is worth?
- Yes. Each section carries a target mark total and a question count, and questions are picked to meet it.
- Will two classes get the same paper?
- Only if you want them to. Generating again draws a different set of questions from the bank, so parallel streams can sit different papers on the same topics.
- Does it lay the paper out the way KNEC does?
- Yes. Two-column layout, dedicated answer space, the school header with double borders, and the footer conventions used on national papers, including the last printed page notice.
- Can I edit a question after it is generated?
- Yes. Every question can be replaced, deleted or edited in place before you export, and the marking scheme follows your edits.
- What if I want to see the questions first?
- The practice pages carry thousands of the same questions with their marking schemes, free to read, so you can judge the bank before you create an account.
