Read the passage below and answer questions that follow
Water is essential for life. Every living organism on Earth depends on water for survival. The human body is made up of about 60 percent water, and we need to drink adequate amounts daily to stay healthy.
Despite water's importance, many regions face severe water shortages. Climate change has altered rainfall patterns, causing prolonged droughts in some areas and flooding in others. In Kenya, communities in arid and semi-arid regions often struggle to find clean drinking water.
Poor water management also contributes to the problem. Pollution of rivers and lakes by industrial waste and agricultural chemicals reduces the amount of safe water available. In urban areas, ageing infrastructure leads to significant water loss through leaking pipes.
Solutions to the water crisis require collective action. Rainwater harvesting, water recycling, and the construction of dams and boreholes can help increase water supply. Conservation measures, such as fixing leaks and using water-efficient appliances, can reduce waste. Everyone has a role to play in ensuring that this precious resource is available for future generations.
