My Village

My village sits upon a hill,

Where morning birds sing loud and shrill;

The river flows below so bright,

It sparkles in the morning light.

The children run through fields of green,

The happiest sight I've ever seen;

Old women sit beneath the tree,

And share their stories, wild and free.

At evening when the sun goes down,

A golden blanket wraps the town;

The cattle slowly walk back home,

No longer free, no more to roam.
