(a) The visit of the twelve-year-old Jesus to the Temple (Luke 2:41-52): Jesus' parents went up to Jerusalem every year for the Passover. When the festival ended and they began the journey home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but His parents did not know it, thinking He was among the travelling company. After a day's journey they began to look for Him among relatives and friends, and when they could not find Him they returned to Jerusalem to search. After three days they found Him in the Temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and answers. When His mother said they had been searching anxiously, Jesus replied, 'Did you not know that I had to be in my Father's house?' He then returned with them to Nazareth and was obedient to them, growing in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and people. (b) Two lessons for Christian children: (i) Children should value learning about God and take interest in the things of God/worship. (ii) Children should be obedient and respectful to their parents, as Jesus returned and submitted to His parents. (Award any two.)
