Read the passage below and answer the questions that follow
Amani lived in a small village near Lake Victoria. Every morning, before the sun rose, she walked with her mother to the lakeshore to buy fresh fish from the fishermen. The cool air smelled of water and reeds. Amani loved watching the boats glide slowly across the calm water, their nets full of silver tilapia that shimmered in the early light.
One day, her mother fell sick and could not go to the market. Amani decided she would go alone for the first time. She carried a small basket and a few coins tied carefully in a cloth. Her heart beat quickly, but she remembered everything her mother had taught her about choosing the freshest fish and bargaining politely with the traders.
At the shore, an old fisherman named Otieno smiled at her. He showed her how to tell if a fish was fresh by looking at its bright, clear eyes and firm body. Amani listened keenly and chose three fine tilapia. She paid the fair price and thanked Otieno warmly for his kindness and patience.
When Amani returned home, her mother was very proud. The fish made a delicious supper that evening. From that day, Amani felt confident going to the market. She had learned that being brave and respectful could turn a frightening task into a proud and happy memory she would never forget.
