Amani lived in a small village near the edge of a great forest. Every morning she walked to school along a narrow path lined with tall trees. She loved listening to the birds sing as the sun rose. The fresh morning air made her feel happy and ready to learn. She always reached school before the bell rang.
One day, Amani found a baby bird lying on the path. It had fallen from its nest and could not fly. Its tiny wings trembled with fear. Amani gently picked it up and held it close to keep it warm. She knew she could not leave the helpless little bird alone on the cold ground.
Amani carried the bird carefully to school in her cupped hands. Her teacher, Mr Otieno, helped her make a soft nest from dry grass and a small box. They placed the bird near a sunny window. Each day, Amani fed it tiny pieces of fruit and gave it water. Slowly, the bird grew stronger and healthier.
After two weeks, the bird could flap its wings and hop around the box. One bright afternoon, Amani opened the window. The bird looked at her, chirped softly, and flew into the blue sky. Amani felt sad to see it go, but she was proud. She had saved a life through her kindness and patient care.
