(a) (2 marks) - Atonement is the act by which sin is forgiven and the broken relationship between God and human beings is restored / reconciliation ('at-one-ment') (1 mark) - ...through a sacrifice offered in place of the sinner (1 mark) (b) Any two of the following, 2 marks each (1 mark for the Passover feature, 1 mark for its link to Christ) (4 marks): - The lamb was a year-old male without defect (12:5); Jesus was sinless, 'a lamb without blemish or defect' (1 Peter 1:19). - The lamb's blood on the doorframes saved the Israelites from death (12:7, 13); Christ's precious blood redeems believers from sin and eternal death (1 Peter 1:18-19). - The lamb died in place of the firstborn; Jesus died in place of sinners as 'the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world' (John 1:29). - None of the lamb's bones was to be broken (12:46); none of Jesus' bones was broken on the cross (John 19:36). - The Passover marked deliverance from slavery in Egypt; Christ's death sets believers free from slavery to sin. - Jesus died at Passover time and linked His suffering to the Passover meal (Luke 22:15), turning it into the Lord's Supper. - The Passover was a lasting ordinance to be remembered (12:14); Christians remember Christ's death in Holy Communion (1 Corinthians 5:7 calls Christ 'our Passover lamb').

(3:11) - God promised, 'I will be with you', and gave the sign that they would worship Him on that mountain (3:12). - 'What is your name? What shall I tell them?' (3:13) - God said, 'I AM WHO I AM'; tell them 'I AM has sent me', the LORD, the God of their fathers (3:14-15). - 'What if they do not believe me?' (4:1) - God gave him signs: the staff that became a snake (4:2-4), the hand that became leprous and was restored (4:6-7), and Nile water that would turn to blood (4:9). - 'I have never been eloquent; I am slow of speech and tongue' (4:10) - God asked who gave human beings their mouths and promised to help him speak and teach him what to say (4:11-12). - 'Please send someone else' (4:13) - God's anger burned, but He appointed his brother Aaron to speak for him and told Moses to take the staff to perform the signs (4:14-17). (b) Any one lesson, 2 marks (1 mark for the lesson, 1 mark for the explanation): - God equips those He calls, so youth should not fear that they are inadequate for His work. - God is present with those He sends, so they can serve Him with confidence. - Making excuses displeases God, so believers should obey His call promptly. - God is patient with human weakness, answering each fear one at a time. - God uses teamwork and the gifts of others (Aaron), so youth should work together in ministry. - Believers can honestly tell God their fears in prayer and receive His assurance.
