Award 1 mark for each effect correctly explained, up to three: emotional distress such as anxiety, fear or depression because the abuse follows the learner home and never stops; poor concentration and falling grades since the learner is preoccupied with the attacks; withdrawal from friends, clubs and school activities to avoid further humiliation; loss of self-esteem because insults are seen by a large audience; absenteeism or the wish to change schools; in severe cases self-harm, which makes counselling and reporting urgent. An answer that merely names effects without explaining them earns a maximum of 1 mark in total.
