Any TWO ways, 1 mark for the way and 1 mark for the explanation (2 marks each): (i) Recognising effort publicly - naming members who turned up or thanking them at assembly, which makes members feel their sacrifice is valued; (ii) Rotating and sharing tasks - so that nobody is stuck with the heaviest or dullest job every weekend and boredom is reduced; (iii) Showing visible progress - reporting how much of the target has been achieved so far, which convinces members the work is worth continuing; (iv) Working alongside the team - the leader taking part in the digging or cleaning so members do not feel used; (v) Providing simple refreshments or arranging transport - removing the practical hardship that makes members drop out; (vi) Involving members in decisions about the next step - ownership increases willingness to return.

(6 marks)
Marking scheme
Any THREE, 1 mark for the benefit and 1 mark for the explanation (2 marks each): (i) It shows what worked and what did not - the team can then repeat the successful methods and avoid the mistakes in the next project; (ii) It allows every member to be heard - quiet members can raise problems, such as unfair sharing of work, that the leader never noticed; (iii) It links the activity to what was learnt - members state the values and skills they gained, which is what community service learning is assessed on; (iv) It gives recognition to members - saying what each person contributed builds the willingness to serve again; (v) It produces an accurate record/report - decisions and figures are confirmed while they are still fresh; (vi) It allows feedback from the community to be discussed and acted on.
